The Carnival of the Animals (Le carnaval des animaux) is a humorous musical suite by the French Romantic composer Camille Saint-Saens. He composed The Carnival of the Animals in February 1886. Saint-Saëns regarded the work as a piece of fun. Carnival has since become one of Saint-Saëns's best-known works,
played by the original eleven instrumentalists, or more often with the
full string section of an orchestra.
